I must confess that I dislike the white, or clear, liquors.
I do adore the basil lemonade one can get at Thea’s in San Jose–leaded or un.
However, upon discovering that I don’t have to drink vodka in a Moscow Mule, but can have really strong ginger beer or ale (red-hot Blenheim comes to mind) with rum, as a Dark & Stormy, I’ll join you in one of those. A slice of lemon from the not-really-a-Meyer in my yard, or a lime, or some orange-bergamot mint will do very nicely. So will a topper of ginger liqueur!
cucumber soda? I’ll muddle with vodka (hmm or rum)in 5 hours. Thanks.
It takes no persuasion to get me to drink gin but it might take some effort to find that soda. Sounds worth it, though.

Good call on Hendrick’s. Tanqueray 10 is also good.
Instead of cucumbers, basil, and cucumber soda, try ice. Easier to find, easier to grow too.
I’m going to find that cucumber soda, already have the basil and gin… and vodka. Yum.
