My belated Gardenblogger Bloom Day pics are a tip of the hat to tulips – and public gardens.  This one's the glorious Brookside Gardens.

I went to see the tulip fields in the Skagit Valley today. Came back with a list of must have tulips. If you ever want to see tens of thousands of tulips, visit the growers in April.

  4. Barbara says:

Is that a shad or star magnolia in those extra four shots photos?

To be honest – the tulips look too jammed in to me! :(

Hey, I helped plant some of those tulips! It takes many hands…..

Looks great. With good weather tulips should show up here in 3 or 4 weeks, and I’m looking forward to it. (Assuming the deer and chipmunks haven’t eaten them or won’t eat them before they bloom).

I don’t plant tulips at client properties due to varmints. It’s a shame.

  7. Damn varmints. What did Brookside Gardens do, have someone sit out there all winter with a shotgun? The surviving tulips from an annual fall planting over many years at a clients are so much more lonely than that display.
