I have another cheap compost bin idea I used for a school garden last year. 4 discarded pallets, some heavy duty 4′ garden stakes and 1/2 wire mesh. Use the garden stakes to place three of the pallets into an open bin configuration – to keep from toppling over, hammer in stakes on both sides to stabilize. Staple the wire mesh to the pallets. Prop up the fourth pallet against the ends of the bin. Pile in leaves and clippings in. Remove the fourth pallet when easy access to turning the pile requires. Creates a bin that is huge to contain all you compost.
